Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to equip selected lay members of New Zion Baptist Church to address the needs of inner-city families. An assessment of the needs of families in the Cedar Grove community of Shreveport was done, and based on the results, participants were trained to address those needs. The training occurred during seven ninety-minute sessions. The program involved the participants in teaching/training sessions, group discussions, and a neighborhood tour. At the completion of the project, the project director acquired an increased knowledge of inner-city families' needs. There was also an increased ability to develop a training manual.
