Abstract
  • This project explores the ways that Western Christians can work in and with cultures of shame, taking mission experience in the Philippines as a case study. Cultures that are community-oriented consider sin in light of relationships. 'Sin' is a behavior or attitude that alienates a person from those whose relationship he values; that alienation is experienced as shame. Sin is to be avoided because it brings one into shame before others.
