  • The hypothesis of this study is that the local congregation can confidently address issues of structural injustice if policy and guidelines are established to guide a ministry of social justice. The study includes the development of policy and guidelines for one congregation. The experience of the congregation needs to be informed by a theological understanding of the relationship of the church to culture and by an understanding of the biblical mandate to work for justice. The history of the American evangelical church in working for justice is examined to bring understanding of their own history to the congregation.
