Abstract
  • Hope is the belief that God is working to bring goodness to the world, even when there is not evidence to support this claim. Preaching hope to a congregation which is experiencing a decline in its economy, population, and the health of its individual members is necessary. I used the preaching techniques of lived experience and narrative preaching, based on the theology of the cross. As a result of using these techniques, there were several physical improvements made in this rural congregation, which indicate the increase of hope for the present and the future.
