Abstract
  • Military veterans entering ministry bring valuable leadership experience, but also potential difficulties in transitioning to a church leadership role. Pastors with military leadership experience were surveyed and interviewed to identify how their military experience aided or hindered their transition to pastoral ministry. These pastors were also given the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ 5X) to gage if their military leadership was more transformational or transactional. Findings of the author concluded that military leadership experience was more of an aid than it was a hindrance to the transition to pastoral ministry.
