Abstract

The purpose of this project was to develop an evangelistic, church-growth strategy for York Terrace Baptist Church, Sheffield, Alabama. The project director gathered and analyzed demographics information to more effectively understand the general composition of the population of the city of Sheffield, Alabama, and its surrounding communities. The project director explored the biblical models for evangelism and church growth found in the Bible, gathering resources to provide the strategic planning team with the necessary scriptural and historical support. Next, the project director interviewed pastors and church leaders whose churches are experiencing significant growth in areas with cultural and demographic similarities to that of York Terrace Baptist Church. Finally, utilizing the resources gathered, the project director and a strategic planning team developed an evangelistic, church-growth plan for York Terrace Baptist Church. The plan was presented to the deacon body and the congregation of York Terrace Baptist Church for acceptance and implementation.
