Abstract
  • To the extent that health-care professionals increase self-awareness concerning their knowledge, attitudes, and feelings toward the dying, death, bereavement, and life in general, the more capable they will be in helping others who are confronted by life-threatening crises. With emphasis on Christian value-oriented education and counseling the participants in the project were provided the opportunity to grow not only in clinical knowledge, but in theological and spiritual knowledge as well. Control and experimental groups were involved. Six one-hour training sessions and small group discussions were held. There was a significant decrease in death anxiety and uncomfortableness in sharing with others on the subject of death and dying. The findings suggest the need for further research on the impact of Christian death education and counseling on emotional and spiritual well-being of health-care professionals.
