- Using Hebrews as an example, this dissertation will seek to demonstrate that authoritative teaching is modeled by expository preaching and vice versa. From rhetorical, theological, and ontological perspectives, Auctor adopted Exod 3:14 in his thesis statement (Heb 1:1-4) to be the most significant ontological signpost in his hermeneutic. The crux is that the name of God (i.e., YHWH) is revealed. Ontologically speaking, 'God speaks' is neither an Old Testament historical phenomenon, nor a Christ-event, but rather it is 'YHWH speaks' who timelessly and unchangeably reveals the reality of his Being and Word. Therefore, YHWH still speaks today.
