The author chose the thesis: Can a spiritual gifts guide be developed to help a historically African American church discover its spiritual gifts to effectively serve its multi-ethnic community? She formed a study group, stressed the importance of congregational fellowship, and taught about spiritual gifts. The group remained open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, took an inventory, and sought to use their gifts in the community. The class completed an evaluation and the author developed a gifts guide. She concluded that the study group participants have begun to use their gifts to serve the church and its multi-ethnic community.
