Abstract
  • The purpose of this dissertation/project is to develop a positive approach for understanding the place of children in corporate worship which will guide the church in ways of increasing the attendance and participation of children in worship. The dissertation shows that even young children can learn much in corporate worship and will do so from symbols, symbolic action, through effective learnings, and through participation. The dissertation begins with a section on the theology and 'theory' of worship. The second half contains three practical courses aimed at enabling Christian education and worship committees (together) to learn about worship and to establish church policies and guidelines for the inclusion of children, and at informing parents about worship.
