Abstract
  • A multiple ministry staff in a large Lutheran church can be organized in a way that agrees with the biblical doctrine of the pastoral office. This project investigates Scripture passages, Lutheran writings on the office of pastor, data from a congregational survey, and writings by experts on multiple staff ministry. The 'mediating view' best preserves the uniqueness of the pastoral office while at the same time allowing for ministers, ordained and unordained, generalist and specialist, to share the office. The project incorporates a congregational handbook as a model.
