Abstract
  • The United States Navy is a diverse community made up of people from many distinct racial, cultural, economic, educational, and religious backgrounds. It produces unique problems for Protestant chaplains who have an earnest desire to enlist service men and women for discipleship training. The ministry project included a twelve-week workshop. Resources for the project incorporated books and articles on discipleship and information obtained through personal interviews with officers and men of USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). The project resulted in the participants gaining an understanding of discipleship and learning guidelines to enhance their spiritual lives. The final outcome of this project will be decided by how well each participant takes personal responsibility for the nurture and assimilation of newly arrived persons attending a military chapel.
