Abstract
  • Studying eleven parishes in depth, the author observes that ongoing revitalization results when laity are moved by the Spirit to see visions and dream dreams. She contends that pastors of vital churches lead from the background to facilitate Bible study, equip the people and welcome the Spirit to reshape and revitalize the community of faith. Utilizing the Evaluative Case Study approach, the author draws upon the disciplines of theology, ecclesiology, history, psychology and sociology. As a participant-observer, she asks questions, listens, gathers data and affirms. Congregational and personal histories provide rich resources for the qualitative study.
