Abstract
  • This study of the sacrament of reconciliation and narcissism helps to see psychological complexities of human life hidden behind the experience of sin. There is much voluntary outpouring of remorse, guilt and shame in the confession of sin. In the light of self-psychology and object relation theory, this study indicates how narcissistic wounds are often at the heart of confessions, and how the priest hearing confession can more effectively address the healing of these wounds. Thus, this study will deepen the understanding and relevance of the power of the sacrament of reconciliation
