Abstract
  • The church is a servant called by God to be responsive in serving the needs of people, both in the church and surrounding community. The challenge facing the church is apathy and the unwillingness to become involved. This is especially true in the evangelical churches with their strong emphasis on evangelism and individualistic needs and goals. Historically they have not utilized a holistic approach of ministering to the total person in all areas of need. This trend can be changed through a strong emphasis on the servant role of the church.
