- Abstract
- Csaba Osvath, in his doctor of ministry thesis, explores the possibilities of integrating art and creativity into the life of the religious community, and promotes the establishment of Artist-in-Residency programs. Osvath, who is a working artist and an ordained minister, participated in and studied the Artist-in-Residency program at Wesley Theological Seminary, where this residency program fulfilled a significant role in the life of the seminary community. In his thesis, Osvath creates a framework and practical guide for churches to establish Artist-in-Residency programs and invites the community to enrich their life, faith, and theology by engaging in a collective, collaborative creative act. He provides a brief biblical and theological foundation, focusing on the Protestant viewpoint on creativity and art in connection with worship and liturgy. He offers a program proposal that can be implemented in various church contexts or settings. The author worked as a resident artist, conducted surveys and workshops on the topic of art and theology, and implemented his experience and projects in his doctoral thesis.
