Abstrait

The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project was to develop a church fostering handbook for First Baptist Church, Somerset, Kentucky. First Baptist Somerset has a long history of planting, replanting, and partnering with churches for further gospel impact. Over time, the need for articulation of best practices and clear guidelines for such partnerships emerged. To meet this need, I researched the area of church fostering, identified best practices, and presented the proposed guidelines in the form of a church fostering handbook. This project followed the ministry research model of NOBTS professional doctoral program and included the goals of researching the field of church fostering and developing a church fostering handbook. Research included interviews with leading voices in the Southern Baptist Convention and an examination of existing models in the field. From the ministry research, a list of best practices was synthesized and compiled into a church fostering ministry handbook. The resulting products of the project were sent to expert evaluators for assessment and evaluation. The stated project goals were achieved and I increased in knowledge within the field and learned more about writing ministry handbooks.
