Abstract
  • Christian married couples often do not pray together. This project shows that spiritual direction enhances the marriages of five couples in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska, as they share their experiences of God with each other. Qualitative research is used to show how the I-Thou marriage relationship of these middle-aged couples is enhanced as they explore the history of their relationships, share their experiences of death and life, discuss their views of the Song of Solomon and develop their emotions by using focusing spiritual direction.
