  • Jesus declared, 'I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it' (Matt 16:18). Since then Christians have debated just how he intended to have it built. Although the debate has ranged widely, this project concentrates on where the church should meet, emphasizing the role of house churches today. Does the Bible mandate house churches as Christ's intended design for the church? This project examines theological, biblical, historical, and practical arguments for house churches as the only right way to be the church, placing them in the contexts of doctrine and culture. The project seeks to determine what any church must do in order to be biblical and effective wherever it may meet.
