Abstract
  • This project explores whether teaching with the 'Abrahamic lens' and 'deep religious pluralism' promotes coexistence while nurturing Christian faith. The Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam together provide a lens for transforming Christian education. The frame of deep pluralism reinforces both openness and faithfulness. Congregants become 'confirmed' (strengthened together) as Christian 'confidels' (with faith) as they faithfully emulate Christ's incorporative love and appreciate other traditions. The education project found that the Abrahamic lens and deep pluralism not only enables local changes but offers a useful model for the Church's wider ministry.
