Abstract
  • The project examines the impact of religious pluralism upon the church's understanding of mission. The author's congregation is the setting for a case study in which a Christian community's encounter with non-Christian religious perspectives prompts commonly recognized paradigms of response (exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism) to other religious faiths as ways of salvation. The study proposes that persons will evidence preference for the attitude of religious pluralism. An attitudinal survey indicates some shift in this direction and suggests that dialogue can serve to strengthen a person's understanding of his or her own faith.
