Abstract
  • This study explores the missionary's role in pastoral and church renewal in the Philippines. Evangelism, church planting, and theological education are effectively transferring to Filipinos. But spiritual formation and ministry skills need attention as second generation churches tend to stagnate. Few missionaries minister to pastors after their formal training. This research was done primarily through the case study of a local minister's fellowship which the author served as teacher and advisor for several years. He concluded that spiritual renewal is promoted when missionaries come alongside their Filipino brothers and churches to encourage them through modeling, teaching, mentoring, visiting, and sharing resources.
