Abstract
  • The church has remained inactive in the movement towards the protection and self-worth of battered women. This project used a series of workshops to educate clergy about spouse abuse. In the workshops the clergy learned about the characteristics and personalities of both victim and perpetrator. The workshop examined their knowledge of spouse abuse. Most clergy are not equipped to minister to victims or perpetrators. The workshops equipped clergy to respond to victims and to use their prophetic calling to become their advocate.
