  • The present study seeks to ascertain the reasons many Jamaican young men who are disinterested in and absent from a meaningful relationship with the church and with society. It intends to identify the problem by means of quantitative and qualitative research. When implications of the sociological as well as the religious perspectives were used to establish an interpersonal relationship and discover male perspective of the church, the following issues were raised: (a) Denominational conflicts (b)Irrelevant programmes (c) Uncaring members (d) Church attendance not necessary. These strongly supported the thesis that the church should be a catalyst for unchurched men.
