  • A nurturing and caring fellowship is a major motivational factor for lay involvement in the activities and ministries of a local congregation in the African context. This project was designed and implemented to test the applicability of this method of lay involvement in ministry in a different context--the USA. The results of this project obtained through questionnaire and personal interviews and supported by actual records demonstrated the applicability of this model in the USA. Other findings indicated Christian commitment, meaningful programs and the pastor's relationship to the congregation as significant motivational factors.
