Abstract
  • Churches stuck between 150 and 200 in worship exhibit a propensity to grow into a program-size church or retreat to pastor-size. While testing a survey to assess the propensity, the author discovered that pastor-size churches were answering like program-size churches. The quantitative project gave way to qualitative analysis. The results appear to suggest that United Methodist congregations are influenced by the historic organization described in The Book of Discipline despite their exhibited behavior.
