This project explores the practice of communal discernment as an approach to communal decision-making for Christian communities in the United States. Based on an analysis of cultural influences--particularly individualism--and the Christian tradition--specifically the Trinity and Ignatian discernment--the project offers a constructive interpretation of communal discernment that draws on insights of Christian feminists and the Jewish philosopher Emmanuel Levinas.
