Recognition of one's own feelings and the feelings of others, to the extent they are important, was involved in the problem solving process. The goal was to keep the rational processes functioning when considering alternatives in solving problems in human relationships. Consultation was collaborative in that the department directors worked together in the learning process. The directors became more skillful in using varieties of problem solving methods.
