- Abstract
- This dissertation examines the effects of Islamic study on one group of middle-American, mainline church members. Far from being detrimental to their own beliefs, such study augmented their appreciation of the distinctness of Christianity while opening them to related dynamics in the Muslim faith. In presenting the reflections of the participants, this paper examines the enhanced value of charting a course of Christian/Muslim interaction through the paradigmatic figure of Abraham/Ibrahim--to Christians a patriarch whose flaws are overcome by the quality of his faith in God, to Muslims a prophet who presents a pattern of obedience for all to follow.
