Where do you find joy? How do you overcome difficulties? The author, a U.S.-based United Methodist deaconess, interviewed 28 deaconess/home missioners in the Philippines to find answers to these and other questions. These committed church workers shared their experiences of serving God and neighbor while addressing a high level of extreme poverty, an oppressive government, the pandemic lockdown, natural disasters, and more.
