Abstract
  • The author of this thesis-project asserts that 'domestic violence' among the Chagga is a problem that needs 'genuine reconciliation' as a pastoral response. Through narrative analysis method based on interviews, with consideration of extensive written sources, the author was able to explore various views on what constitutes genuine reconciliation. The author concludes, as a result, that in genuine reconciliation there are basic spiritual and social elements that must be considered. These elements include truth telling, the pursuit of justice, genuine intention to stop violence, willingness to forgive, healing, and liberation from structures and social systems that permit violence.
