Abstract
  • The project deals with Christian fasting using the Wesleyan quadralateral as an outline (scripture, tradition, reason, experience). The 'reason' chapter is drawn from the author's ministerial experience in the Caribbean and highlights some Jamaican theologies of fasting from Christian and quasi-Christian practitioners. The 'experience' chapter outlines a seven-week group fasting experience led by the student. The group was pre- and post-tested. The experience of a guided fast demonstrated the positive power of this ancient Christian practice in spiritual formation.
