- Abstract
- The goal of this project is to show that the Eastern Christian practices of meditation and imagery are as relevant and useful today as they were in the early days of the church. It is the firm conviction of the author that the ancient practices of meditative prayer, or 'prayer of the heart,' and active imagery can be fully integrated with the latest developments in psychology and counseling and used successfully by pastoral counselors. Together with history and theory, the author offers concrete suggestions for effective uses of Christian meditative prayer and imagery, including methods and techniques.
