Abstract
  • A preaching curriculum written for William Jessup University, Rocklin, California, was developed from Dr. Haddon Robinson's book Biblical preaching and Bruce Wilkinson's book The seven laws of the learner. It was taught twice at that university by the same instructor with classes of four and sixteen students. Students successfully absorbed the Biblical preaching material, but they did not absorb The seven laws of the learner because of its overwhelming detail. The conclusion was that a course at this level must use books streamlined along the lines of Biblical preaching to avoid 'mental dazzle' or information overload. This creates more time in class to teach the important concepts, allowing students time to assimilate the material.
