Abstract
  • Multicultural congregations often struggle to develop understanding between members from different cultures. The author focused on a particular congregation and ways in which small Bible study groups affected the cultural understanding of members. She examined the complexities of culture and the significance of building relationships. She worked with Paul Kimmel's definition of cultural understanding to examine the growth in understanding of persons utilizing a method called 'African Bible study.' Because of recognition of cultural differences by participants and their efforts to explain them, the author found that 'African Bible study' can foster growth in cultural understanding.
