Abstract
  • The project encourages professional ministry through the acquisition of more knowledge and skill. It presents a self-help model comprised of an exercise in ministry identification and three patterns for developing personal theology, exercising collegiality and evaluating ministerial practice. Ordained and lay ministers may employ the model by using resources available where they minister. The project includes a description of an application of the model to youth ministry. Twenty appendixes document the process. A definition of Lutheran ministry, a report on a multi-lingual survey of youth ministers in four countries, a theological statement for youth ministry and a method for improving skills are included. The project concludes by noting the strengths and weaknesses of the model determined by the writer and by four practitioners.
