Abstract
  • A nine-day basic pastoral knowledge and skills training retreat was designed and implemented, targeting Hispanic lay people interested in pastoring. The purpose was to attract students that would not consider a traditional education program and offer them a highly contextualized, intensive training opportunity. In preparing the model, the supervising committee drew upon the expertise of its members and a survey of similar training programs. The retreat was implemented in July 1987 with sixteen students. Subjective and objective analysis produced excellent results. A six-month evaluation also showed practical ministries begun as a result of the retreat.
