Abstract
  • This program involved the Council on Ministries (COM) of a large, suburban United Methodist congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio. The research question was, 'how will a leadership development program affect the Council on Ministries?' three major events were implemented. Two preparatory sessions involved present members of the COM. The concluding workshop was an orientation for newly elected members of the Council. The conclusion is that the development of leaders is accomplished through teaching skills, sharing information , and a process of spiritual growth. Biblical images and the particular nature of the Christian fellowship are crucial to developing leaders in the church.
