Abstract
  • This paper addressed the issue of Muslim-American youth prone to extremism and violence. The study proposed a pragmatic approach of engagement with and education of the youth. The methodology combined direct instruction for youth on Islam's nonviolent beliefs with group activities to encourage community cohesion. The author compared and analyzed a pre-program written survey with a final survey. Data analysis showed successful results and positive outcomes from this project: there was a dramatic shift away from violence-prone attitudes toward peace-oriented ones.
