- Abstract
- This D. Min. project explored a number of issues and concepts about pastoral leadership in starting new churches that affect the growth and health of the new church. It also tested a particular 'Profile of an Organizing Pastor' to see if it could predict which ministers would be most successful in starting new churches. The research was a survey of the first pastors of non-racial/ethnic Presbyterian churches organized between 1982-1992. The project also provided an evaluation sheet and interview and reference questions that a search committee can use to determine whether ministers have the abilities and personality characteristics that have been present most often in successful NCD pastors.
