- Abstract
- The authors' purpose was to identify the struggle for acceptance and the viability of a clergy couple co-pastoring full-time in a local church. They showed they could utilize their calling and masculine/feminine attributes to strengthen their personal ministries and marriage and involve the insights and awareness of laity in the context. Couple ministry in historical and contemporary settings were researched. Questionnaires were employed. Parish laity assisted in producing a pamphlet describing clergy couples and their innovative ministries. A team ministry model, stressing freedom and equality, was developed collegially by the writers through prayer, research, and journal analyses.
