Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to provide insight into the provision of pastoral care to incarcerated criminals. In part one early theories of criminality are investigated, while in part two more contemporary studies are researched. Part three is a historical overview of the sacrament of reconciliation. Part four brings the findings of all these studies together to bear on possibilities for practical application in a federal penitentiary, by way of a study of a survey taken among inmates on attitudes regarding reconciliation.
