Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip selected members in the congregation of Providence Baptist Church, Jayess, Mississippi, in greeter ministry skills. The project director trained the participants during four instructional sessions on a Saturday. The project director also distributed additional materials for personal application. The first session of the workshop included instructing the selected members on the reason for a greeter ministry. The project director discussed biblical foundations and resources for a greeter ministry. Session two of the workshop focused on the responsibilities of the selected members for an effective greeter ministry. In the third session of the workshop, the group evaluated the comments from a 'secret worshipper' and developed a plan to enhance a guest's experience. Role-playing was utilized in the third session for the purpose of training the group. The goal of session four allowed the selected members to view the facilities and recognize ways in which signage and placement of greeters would help make the campus more user-friendly.
