  • The Augustinian directed retreat is a private retreat in the manner of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola. It is the result of a comparison between Augustinian and Ignatian spirituality. The framework of the retreat is similar to that of the Jesuit retreat. The spirit is Augustinian. The differences in approach are explained. Methods of meditation and a particular examen entitled Kingdom Awareness Exercise are presented in detail.
