Abstract
  • Conflict is a natural consequence of renewal efforts in the church. This project addresses that conflict by exploring the possibilities of: 1) preventing it; 2) resolving it; 3) minimizing it; or 4) redirecting its energies in constructive ways. Learnings are tested by a microcosm representative of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio. They wrestle with the explosive issues of liturgical and charismatic renewal. Their inductive approach results in findings that are legitimated in the crucible of actual experience. They conclude that ways can be developed to help a congregation deal effectively with renewal related conflict.
