Abstract
  • A strategy for ministry was devised for the public church's emergence within Australian local congregations. The strategy's theological foundations are based upon certain insights from political theology. An empirical survey provides the basis of its applicability to the Australian context. The strategy combats the privatistic and sectarian tendencies within Australian church life and ministry by suggesting a reformist approach to ministry by which the critical and prophetic dimensions of ministry can be integrated into the total ministry of local congregations. From the strategy, certain objectives are formulated for field education programs of the Uniting Church's Theological Hall in Melbourne.
