Abstract

This study utilized the spiritual interventions of Scripture, prayer, Eucharist, story, healing touch, music, and meditation/visualization with patients who had cancer, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The goal of the study was to find ways to assist patients with these life threatening diseases to move from places of anxiety and worry to places of peace, healing, and wholeness. The researcher found that story was the common element in the interventions that were most effective fro these patients. Through the use of story, the patients were able to remember their own stories and to connect those with God's story which helped them to move into a more peaceful place.
