  • This project postulates the belief that the Christian church can take seriously its mission in the world by creating an open and inclusive congregational environment for persons with ASDs and their families. This will shape the identity, mission, and life of the Christian congregations who do so. Through the use of an ethnographical approach, the project unearths the challenges of four families who are dealing the ASDs and posits that there are educational and faith based steps that Christian congregations can use to assist families similarly situated. The project also shows that congregational inclusivity is at the heart of the missional church and its theology, and that there is hope for the church, persons with ASDs, and their families.
