Abstract
  • This project proposes that a variety of United Methodist Churches in the Miami (Florida) District will close in the next couple of years. It suggests that the only way for the denomination to remain as a witness in Miami is to start new churches. Since the desire to start new churches received healthy funding before any plans were made, this project explores the assumptions about church closings, questions the discernment process that leaders engaged in as they developed the vision, and makes a concrete proposal of planting new churches in the area.
