- Abstract
- This project traces the history and background of the devotional observance of 'Stations of the Cross' from its earliest known roots, and then explores its theology and purpose, particularly notings its involvement with pilgrimages, veneration of images, and indulgences. Based on exegesis of biblical texts concerned with 'walking in the way of the Lord,' the project applies a Reformed ethos to the devotion and offers an example of a Reformed version of the devotion in a guidebook, 'A Journey to the Cross'.
